The Washington Post has made an article on the warning of Katatoni and Kurdistan to hold independence referenda.
Kurdistan authorities have announced in June that they will hold referendums to be independent of Iraq. That is said to be on September 25th. Catalonia has also suggested that she will organise Spain's secession referendum with the first October, Klen Kosova follows.
In the article entitled “welcomes you to the time of secession” it says both Iraq and Spain, but also the international community opposes holding independence referenda that raise the risk of conflict.
But the practice of Kurdistan and Catalonia is said to stem from earlier, based on the case of Kosovo and Montenegro, which have been independent of Serbia.
It says Kurds and Catalans are also using the same secession strategy.
The secession movement could take place in two ways to achieve independence. The first is focus on central governance as an obstacle to achieving independence”, the article said.
“If the government allows independence, as Serbia did in Montenegro's case in 2006, then the path of sovereignty is set for”.
“International Union may try to pressure the central government to recognise the independence of territories, as in the case of Sudan, or Kosovo, overcoming central governance and making full recognition of the breakaway of a” region, the article continues.
