Moscow does not recognise North Korean nuclear status, Russian President Vladimir Putin said after talks with South Korean President Moon Jae, “reported. Sputnik International” Transmission Periscope.
I confirmed Moon Jae to our principles. We don't know the nuclear status of North Korea. Pyongyang's missile and nuclear programme seriously violates the UN Security Council resolution, undermines this regime, and poses a threat to security in northeastern Asia”, Putin said, as he was present at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
North Korea declared itself a nuclear nation in 2005, conducting its first nuclear test a year and a half later. The situation around North Korea escalated in recent months, following several nuclear tests conducted by the country.
It is obvious that it is impossible to solve the problems of the Korean Peninsula only with sanctions and pressures, we should not submit to emotions and move North Korea to a corner. If more than ever, everyone should show calmness and avoid the steps leading to an escalation of war tensions”, Putin said at the Eastern Economic Forum.
Moreover, the Russian leader said Russia was still ready to implement trilateral projects with South Korea, including North Korea.
