Prime Minister's Office again attacks reporters this time over Gazmend Syla reports

Publicising news that Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's adviser, Gazmend Syla, appointed today in the prime minister's cabinet, is suspected to have links to crime, has prompted the prime minister's Office for Media to call it a campaign against the Government. Insander reported today Haradinaj has named Gazmend Syla adviser to war veterans' issues and how Syla in many investigative files is suspected as a man linked to the most dangerous groups of killers in Kosovo.

He was part of the case of businessman Azem Morina's kidnapping, along with Bedri Krasniqi and Haradinaj's two bodyguards. Syla had numerous ties to the group of killers of the two police officers in 2004.

Prime Minister Haradinaj's Media Office has reacted by saying it expresses “regret over the publication or retransmission of inaccurate and biased information from some media, concerning Gazmend Syla's appointment, the prime minister's political adviser on war veterans' issues of KLA”.

According to the Media Office, “Gazmend Syla despite claims, there is no open process and no trouble with law”.

Insander has asked for clarification from Haradinaj's cabinet for the appointment of Sylajt adviser. Haradinaj's other adviser, Avni Arifi, has described Insider's questions as disgusting and false.

I recommended yesterday that you contact the office for communication. However, the only comment on the charges cited as revulsive and false” has said Arifi.

And according to the Prime Minister's Office, such news is a campaign against the Government.

“Publicating information on unconfirmed charges against Mr. Syla, but others, for us, constitutes violations of professional ethics and we consider several media campaigns against the government of Prime Minister Haradinaj”, the government's response said.
