Hurricane Maria to Puerto Rico

The fifth category storm has been unleashed with all its fury on the islands of St. Croix, the day after he left a trail of destruction in Dominica. The violent hurricane is moving on almost the same route as Irma, a fifth - and destructive - category one.

The governor of Puerto Rico has asked 3.5 million residents of American territory to find refuge as the storm approaches. Officials there fear that the remains left earlier by Irma could now turn to a very dangerous element by Maria's strong winds. There are also concerns that heavy rainfall can cause landslides, while in low areas the storm is forecast to rise to three feet [3 m] high.

Puerto Rico has been a protected paradise for people who have fled the last few weeks, but now he himself is on the road to another devastating storm.

President Donald Trump has declared the state of emergency for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, as well as authorized the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Agency to coordinate all rescue efforts. Another storm, the tropical Lee, is followed by Maria from the east, but it is not predicted by metheologists to approach the Caribbean.
