Greece and the European Border Control Agency “Frontex” have returned 1329 immigrants to Turkey, under the agreement reached in March 2016 between the EU and Ankara, Greek police reported today in Athens.
However, there are still 13,000 refugees and immigrants in the Greek islands of the Aegean await proceeding with their asylum requirements.
Migrants began being blocked in Greece when many countries on the Balkan road from Greece to Northern Europe closed their borders on refugees and immigrants 18 months ago.
To this point, more than a million people passed from Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and Croatia to the richest EU nations.
