The transformation of the KSF into the Kosovo Army through constitutional changes has also put Ramush Haradinaj's new government in trouble.
Although the chief executive during the national election campaign on June 11th had said that the issue of forming the army is one of its priorities, now the government's official does not specify any time when such a process of transformation can begin, since it must first convince 2/3 of Serbian deputies in the Kosovo Assembly.
Government of Kosovo media spokesman Arber Vladhiu, in a response to Indexline, has said this process will be resolved in the future in line with the country's legislation and in consultations with international partners.
“is a matter of co-ordination with Kosovo institutions, in line with the country's legislation and in consultations with international partners”, Vlahi has said.
On the other hand, Rrustem Berisha, the KSF minister, said yesterday that this process cannot be resolved soon, but that the new government will have the priority of transforming KSF into the military.
We will convey our messages in co-ordination both with our strategic partners and with the community, to just understand that the formation of the Armed Forces is not contrary to the interests of the citizens of Kosovo or the community. We have the major goal of transformation, because we've been late for three and a half years about transformation, and I hope we can realise it in our” mandate, Berisha said, yesterday in a media proposal.
