What the EU Monitors Report Says on June 11th Elections

The Mission for Election Monitoring in Kosovo by the European Union (EU EOM) today has presented the final report on the June 11th legislative elections.

“Raport contains an assessment on the election process and offers 26 recommendations for improving future election processes in Kosovo”.

“Mission was led by Mission Chief Alojz Peterle, member of the European Parliament from Slovenia, who returned to Kosovo for two days to present the report to authorities in Kosovo, the Central Election Commission (KQZ), political parties, civil society and the media”, wrote in the EU observers' communique.

EU EOM's final report reflects the findings of the preliminary declaration, where the elections were found to be really competitive in most of Kosovo, but political will needed to address old weaknesses as well as the problems of intimidation in Kosovo's Serb areas”.

“Stressing the need for addressing intimidation, Peterle called for more determined action by influential bodies, saying voters from all communities deserve a free democratic process of”.

The presentation of the Final Report wraps up the work of the European Union's Election Monitoring Mission on legislative elections, which was in Kosovo from May to June, and monitored all aspects of the election process, the Kosovo Clan broadcasts.

Peterle will continue the role of Mission Chief for the new election monitoring mission for the October 22nd municipal elections, which officially opened today.
