In Macedonia, according to statistics every week, there are one victim at work. Except for last year when 28 cases of death have been recorded, an average of 43 cases of death a year have been recorded in the past years. This alarming data has been published by the Macedonian Association for Protection during work, Alsat-M reports.
They say it's about numbers that need to disturb institutions. The most dangerous professions are construction and agriculture.
The situation in Macedonia is not greedy at close range. We have situations where a worker changes his life every week at the workplace. We have sectors that are not covered, which are the generator of the largest number of deaths in Macedonia. As are agriculture, the transport industry, police parts and army”, said Milan Petkovski, the Macedonian association for protection during the work.
Petkovski says Macedonia has European laws for security and health during the work, but that it lacks implementation.
The unions in Ohrid say that safety and protection of workers are also confirmed by the labour relations law.
In Ohrid these days has been debated just about these problems, while the outcome has been that in those organisations where there are union organisation, problems have been smaller.
