The Court of Appeals has rejected complaints by defenders of Valdrin Luka and Eljana Naka, submitted against the Constitutional Court's ruling in Pristina, with which objections to the indictment were rejected.
The chairman of the court, Hamdi Ibrahimi, for “Justice Trust”, has said that he will soon set the date for the main judicial examination in this criminal case.
Supporters of Valdrin Luka and Eljana Naka, charged with criminal acts “conflict of interest”, at the March 3rd 2017 session, had sought to drop the indictment on their clients. Lawyer Arton Cherkini and lawyer Teuta Zinnipotok had rejected evidence filed by the prosecution, saying the prosecution is unfounded in evidence.
The Constitutional Court in Pristina on March 6th 2017, had refused to base the demands of defence lawyers for dropping the indictment.
To that decision, defence lawyers had filed complaints at the Court of Appeals.
Luka is charged that in the quality of the top official at the MTI, at the same time head of the Investment Promotive Agency, on March 23, 2014, the procedures for pledging the means worth 20,000 euros to the NGO “Jakov Innovation Center”, in which the NGO had been founder.
Meanwhile, MTI Secretary General Eliana Naka, on 2 June 2014, had made the decision that the means of 20 thousand euros, were to be separated as financial support to the NGO “Jakov Innovation Center”, where the board's director had been.
