President Donald Trump gave a long speech Tuesday evening, where, among other things, he accused the media, equated journalists with traitors and calling them “bad people who do not like our country”.

During a political rally at the Arizona Finals Conference Centre, the president read earlier statements in which he criticised neo-nazis and Ku Klux Klan after the fatal 12 August crash in Charlottesville, Virginia.

But the president left out the most controversial words last week, with which he blamed the violence “on both sides”.

Mr. Trump also accused the media of not reporting his comments.

“Did the media mention my words that racism is bad?”

The crowd answered loudly.

I'm a man who wants to tell the truth,” said Mr. Trump. “I'm an honest man. ”

The two republican senators of Arizona, both of whom have clashed with the president, did not attend the rally with the president's supporters. Mr. Trump criticised both Senator John McCain and Senator Jeff Flare, but not to mention their names.

Mr. Trump's presence in the western state of Arizona, where he defeated the Hillary Clinton by 3.5 per cent more in last year's presidential elections, attracted tens of thousands of supporters and protesters in the centre of the town of Finix. Authorities had taken strong security measures to prevent violence.

Protesters threw provocative slogans at those waiting in line to enter the rally hall, shouting: “Turp, shame”, “There is no hatred in our state”, and “No Trump, No KKK, not a fashtist America”.

Supporters, who lined up for hours at Arizona's hot temperatures, chanted: “build walls”. Many wore red hats with Mr. Trump's campaign slogan “Let's make America big again”.

A few minutes after Mr. Trump had completed his campaign-style rally, police threw tear gas among protesters outside the building.

Along the American Border

Prior to the political rally in the capital of Arizona, the president went to a Yuma Marine base on the border with Mexico and to an operations centre of the American Border Patrol in the area.

Mr. Trump's famous promise to build a wall along the US- Mexican border was one of his main topics at the gathering.

The acting director of the US Agency for Migration and Customs, Tom Homen, told reporters on the presidential plane headed to Arizona: “The president's message is that we need a strong limit, we need a stronger law enforcement...”

President Trump's visit to the Border Patrol base included an inspection of flying vehicles, including a helicopter and a threat, as well as meetings to assess the operational results, policies and morals of the Border Patrol “on the eve of the fiscal year 2018<18x1>, another administration official told reporters.

Congress has not yet completed work on an American government budget for the fiscal year 2018, which begins on October 1st. (American voice)
