In a letter provided by Indexline from the “family Sultan”, the former commander, recalls difficult times past with Rexhepi.
Among other things, Selimi relates how former doctor Bajram Rexhepi had healed his wounds in the war at the time he was wounded.
By being where I am, the news can come differently. But news of the early death of KLA Doctor Bajram Rexhepi would have taken the same pain even if I were on freedom. Along with the news of Doctor's death, I also recall the memories of his healing of war wounds. I remember when Sahit Jashar was wounded in December 1996 in Prekaz. KLA needed a doctor. And we were in the tower of the Jasharaites, with Adam, and Hamza, and Rej, and Muja, and Nait, and fellow fighters. We decided to find the doctor. We went to Mitrovica with Aslan and found the doctor. It was Dr. Bajram Rexhepi, who immediately came to Prekaz and since then was both a doctor and a soldier KLA.
But the doctor we called for Sahiti had to call him back even when I was injured in the fall of 1997. I didn't know that the doctor I brought from Mitrovica to the KLA for Sahiti, I had brought him for myself. He came and healed my wound a few days before the New Rezalla battle and the KLA public exit. So my doctor and Sahi's became the doctor KLA.
He healed many wounds and saved many warriors. Even after the war, we maintained friendship and respect from fellow fighters. We also had close cooperation in our duties and role in state institutions. So, news of Doctor's death came to me as a sad news of an early separation from this life. In this case, by keeping up his memories, he expressed comfort to his family, fellow fighters, and colleagues. The memory of the War Doctor and former Prime Minister Bajram Rexhepi will be compounded. Sylejman Selimi, Dubrat, August 23rd 2017” writes Selimi
