Prosecutors say Shkreley has illegally received money from his drug company to pay investors on two failed funds he managed.
The defense side says investors have taken their money, even made a lot of money. The former biotechnology firm, called “Pharma Bro”, is best known for the fuss that caused its multiple rise in the price of a very popular drug, as well as for the insulting comments it made to critics in social media.
If convicted, he faces 20 years in prison, but the sentence may be much smaller than that, according to some new regulations.
