At the Counting and Results Centre, the annihilation of the election material of early elections on June 11th has begun.
Election material will be completely destroyed, except for the material that will serve as evidence for the prosecution and PZAP, as well as a piece needed for training.
Central Election Commission Chairman Valdete Daka, who was monitoring the start of the election material annihilation, stressed that this is the final phase of the June 11th elections.
We were present here at the CNR today for the destruction of the election material. This is the last phase of the June 11th election elections of 2017, a legal obligation the CEC must fulfill. Today all the materials will be destroyed, except for the material that should serve as evidence in cases that the prosecution and PZAP will set up and a portion needed for training... The question of the investigation is a list that has come from the state prosecutor and PZAP, as well as boxes that have been recounted will then be submitted for investigation to competent prosecutors. They won't be destroyed at the moment, but the CEC will make a decision regarding these boxes and we will be sending to the prosecutor”, Daka said.
As the election material of the June 11th elections is being destroyed, the CEC is in the final phase of organising local elections, which will be held on October 22nd.
“All operations are going as planned, we have time, this time we are not in short terms, we are in fair elections and everything is going as we planned”, she stressed.
Asked whether the CEC has capacities to organise even the central elections along with local ones, Daka said they can't choose if they want to, because they have to organise, even though it's not the same as organizing a pair, like two parties of elections.
It's a question you shouldn't have asked. The CEC cannot choose whether to organise elections or not, the CEC organises them when asked to organise elections. If two choices are required to be organised, we will organise... certainly not the same as organizing two choices, as a party. But we will try what is required according to the law from us and, according to our ability, organise”, Daka added.
She said that by the end of August she will Certificate political parties, along with lists of candidates for mayor and asmblists for the October 22nd elections.
While changing candidates for mayors of municipalities in recent days, Daka said they had a 5-day deadline after the deadline for submitting the lists was completed to change candidates for both mayors and asmbilist candidates.
