Women's unemployment in Kosovo highest in region

O Mission Chief The SEU in Kosovo, Ambassador Ian Braathu, said that the unemployment rate of women in Kosovo is the highest in the region, where 82 percent of women capable of work are unemployed.

He made these comments on the occasion of opening the two-day trade fair in Pristina for business owners from the south and north of the Iber River.

Braathu asked that women be part of the economy.

If we want to empower the economy, it doesn't mean to prevent the access of women to the economy. Women simply need to be part of the economy. The women's unemployment rate in Kosovo is the highest in the region. 82 percent of women who are able to work are unemployed,” he said.

Ambassador Braathu said dialogue, reconciliation and communication is the cornerstone of a healthy society in Kosovo.

While Austrian Ambassador to Kosovo Gernot Pfandler said they have priority in promoting the economy, where, under the stress, they have women's support in all sectors of the economy.
