Prior to completing the legal deadline for handing over the election campaign's financial declaration reports, the D4D Institute called on all coalitions and political subjects who have been part of the electoral race in the early elections of June 11th 2017, to respect the legal deadlines of handing over reports of the Financial Declaration of the Elexorial Field to the Central Election Commission.
The law on financing political subjects clearly defines the legal deadlines in which political subjects must be reported, which expires on July 26th 2017.
The D4D Institute reminded political subjects of the pledges made in the case of signing the declaration for increased financial transparency enabled by the D4D Institute on May 29th 2017, calling for the financial report of spending during the election campaign to be made public even on their electronic sites and available to the general public, proving their will for transparency and accountability.
The timely publication of the financial reports of political parties in Kosovo is in the interest of the democratisation process, and any acceptance and spending of money by political parties must undergo monitoring mechanisms to ensure that money is managed in line with the laws in force regulating this area.
The D4D remains committed to co-operating with political subjects towards the establishment of transparency and financial accountability of political subjects, the D4D report said.
