Trade and Industry Minister Hykmete Bajrami has officially asked the Government of Albania to implement agreements signed with Kosovo and lift the reference price for Kosovo potatoes.
In a response, Bajrami has said he would be obliged to do the same to Albania's products if Tirana does not remove the reference price set for the Kosovo potato.
“The government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of Albania have signed agreements and must be implemented, as otherwise it loses the reason for these documents that have the two countries' signatures”, Bajrami wrote.

Albania's government drop cmiMin referral for Kosovo potato
Free Trade Agreements are in favour of economic development only when signatory countries implement them directly and by respecting their partners. Our country's producers are often facing barriers from neighbouring countries.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry is ready to stand up for our country's great producers and people.
For the potato case we have already contacted Albanian authorities, we have requested the immediate departure of the reference price.
Otherwise, we will act the same for products Albania exports to Kosovo.
I've talked to Minister Hoti, the Customs Director of the Republic of Kosovo, and we're working to overcome this problem.
The government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of Albania have signed agreements and must be implemented as they otherwise lose the reason for these documents that have the two countries' prime ministers' firms.
Hykmete Bajrami,
Minister, MTI
