The foreign direct investment stock exceeded 5.8 billion euros in the first quarter of this year, the Bank of Albania's official data shows, under which the value of assets owned by foreigners in the Albanian economy increased by about 800m euros.
When it comes to what the sectors are, which attract more foreign capital, instead ranks information and communication, which is primarily investments in phone companies, but also those at “cal center”.
In the first quarter of this year, the foreign investment stock in this sector is estimated at 1 billion and 220m euros.
In second place, the most favoured sector by foreign companies to invest is electricity and gas.
According to the Bank of Albania, energy and gas have absorbed a billion euros of foreign investment in Albania, while the financial sector holds third place with 952m euros.
Separated according to countries, Greece continues to be the main shareholder in the Albanian economy.
Assets owned by Greek companies in Albania account for over 1.2 billion euros, while Dutch come in second place with 870m euros.
