The European Commission is planning to launch a legal procedure against Poland next week on its controversial reform in the judicial system.
European Commission Deputy Chairman Frans Timmermans said today that the commission has discussed suspending Poland's EU voting rights under Article 7 of the EU treaty, considered the “nuclear option”.
“We will quickly prepare EU law violations procedures, which will begin next week. Given recent developments, we are very close to activating Article 7”, he said.
