Che Mohamad Zulkfty Jusoh from the ruling Malaysian party, Barisan Nasional, made these comments at a parliamentary session during a debate on family violence.
Malaysia is in talks to change its existing laws against domestic violence.
The 58-year-old politician from the state of Terengganu has said men suffer emotional abuse instead of physical abuse.
Even though men are said to be stronger physically than women, there are times when women hurt or abused men in extreme ways,” he said.
“):Zaconally, this includes cases where women curse their husbands: this is emotional abuse. They insult their husbands and deny them their sexual needs. All of these are types of emotional and psychological abuse,” has added.
