Students in Presevo learn dova at school

That a long snake will wrap up the dead once they pass through the next world is one of the lessons that scare students of the Presevo Valley elementary school. These and other lessons about death given to students from the lower cycle have caused some parents to complain, demanding that [...]

In one sense, all respond that they have taught Islamic Islam's proclamations (shahadet). These are third-graders in elementary school.

But not all of these teachings are learned by their own will. Nexhat Boritch's daughter, she's a school student.

She, as her father himself says, has been forced to follow the teachings of religious education.

The “was somehow imponum. Since it was election class I chose civic education. But the impossible because of other parents' uninterest has forced me to get my daughter into religious politeness”, Boric said of the research show “administration” in RTK.

He says that his daughter, not yet growing up and enjoying life, has to learn about life after death and how people are buried.

Religious Teaching That Imposes Students

However, the decision on religious instruction has not been taken personally in the Presevo Valley. Throughout Serbia's territory from 2001 onward, religious instruction begins to be learned from the first grade to the end of high school.

Granit Kamberi is a teacher of religious education in Presevo. He says that students from the first class to the fifth grade, all are in religious instruction. “While, from the fifth grade, chosen by students if they want to follow civic education or religious education subject”, Kamberi said, broadcasts Rtclives.com.

Head of primary school “Ibrahim Kelmendi” in Presevo, Besa Sahiti, has said that the quality selection is done from the beginning, when children are tested by the professor. The “One of the criteria is also the choice of religious or civic education subject”, says the school principal.

She has explained that from first grade to fourth grade in elementary school, civic education will be provided by the teacher himself. And she says that they legalize teachers who have completed their studies of theology.

Interesting, confirmed by the teacher Kamberi, is enormous in religious subjects. We have a huge number of students who are very interested, both in high school and primary school”, says Kamberi, once the chairman of the Islamic Community Council in Presevo.

Nexhat Boric says he is neither against religion nor religious education. I think the girl without growing up and seeing life has to learn about life after death. I don't think the girl chose this with her self-will”, he said.

He has said that since it is electoral substance, he could have his daughter as a whole abstain from this subject. However, he says that he did not want to be separated from society.

I didn't want to go any further either, since everyone is going that way”, Boric says, saying this problem is downplayed.

It's probably not a big problem because the child gets his manners first at home”, Boric says.

Besa Sahiti, primary school director “albrahim Kelmendi”, Pristina

And the fact that most parents direct their children to religious education rather than to that citizen, the principal of the school <x0... “think that if children learn this subject they'll get better, more fair...”, she says.

Sahiti says that statistics concerning the follow-up of religious or citizen teaching vary in fifth grade, “In fifth grade children are older. There are still more students who want religious education, but there are more students who also go to civic manners”.

Xhemaledin Salihu is chairman of the Association for Protection of Cultural Heritage in Presevo. The author of several historical and cultural books about Presevo and among the few intellectual in Presevo that have consistently reacted to what he calls the indoctrination of children through religious teaching.

He has also done an analysis of what is planned and what is actually preached in Albanian schools in the Presevo Valley.

Science on Religion That Becomes Religious Preaching

I have entered the website of Serbia's Ministry of Education. I've seen it's not called Islamic courtesy but it's called Islamic Religion science”, Salihu explains.

He has indicated that in schools in Presevo, Islamic education is dominated until he says Serbia's Ministry of Education predicts that science on religion will be educated in this subject. In this case, he says that elements of Islamic religion should be taught in comparison with secular religions and other beliefs.

Salihu says that in Presevo schools, science on religion is widely legalized by hojaries belonging to various schools and studied in the world and Arab states. They come with a culture, tradition and teaching of Islamic Islam that they want to practice in Presevo, with primary and high school students”.

However, religious education teacher Grani Kamberi, whose students from the first grade have taught the declared Islamic religion confessions, say that the religious subject is informative.

We just inform them what Islamic Islam is, what's the commitment...”, Kamber says.

But it is Besa Sahiti, the school principal who teaches Camber, who confirms that there are several teaching units where there have been complaints from his parents.

You know that in religion, when all of this is learned for example, the first night when man dies, the night of the grave, and there have been firehouses showing off at the mosque, and the child has taken it as trauma”, says principal Sahiti. Her only reaction has been to prevent such things from being explained, even if they are planned.

Cemaledin Salihu, chairman of the Association for Protection of Cultural Heritage

On the other hand, Xhemaledin Salihu, chairman of the Association for Cultural Heritage in Presevo, says that it is very important to compare with other existing religions to see the qualities and benefits of Islam toward other religions. And of course the priorities other religions have toward that Islam. So a comparison approach between religions. I've been following this lesson, in elementary and secondary schools, mostly Islamic education”.

On the contrary, according to Salih, this way of teaching outside the planprogime leads to religious indoctrination. We have a case in Trnoc, where first-grader starts practicing prayers and he gets a camera and a camera shot teaches them to say I'm a Muslim, with a musical escort. I would have admitted if that hodge said: I am Albanian, but with Muslim religious affiliation”. Then, he says, national but religious identity is preserved.

The teacher “visits” social networks with images from religious education at school

But it is Riyad Demiri, the teacher of religious education at primary school “Muharrem Kadriu”, at Tarnoc in Bujanoc, the one who has distributed several photos and recordings of students performing religious rituals within the classrooms.

The “those that I've posted on Facebook were some of the activities that were developed in the class of religious learning, as has been the lesson for example in prayer format”, the Demiri teacher confirms.

He reasons this with the fact that each teaching unit, except the theoretical side, has the same practice. As for women, he says, "This is one of the rules of prayer." “One of these is body coverage, which is also seen in the photograph. Like other subjects with concrete tools, religious teaching has these tools. When it was the form of prayer, for example, it was made when the form of prayer was learned”, Demir says.

Riyad Demiri, Teacher of Religious Education

Bajram Salihu, director of the school “Ibrahim Kadriu” in Trnoc of Bujanoc. He has said he has reacted to school in terms of publishing material on the part of educator Demiri.

We've got a response to that also”, he said, broadcast rtclites.com.

Asked if teaching Arab poetry and songs at school should be allowed, he has said no one dares get out of the education bulletin. Thus, the research of the “shows in RTK found that monitoring the learning process, especially for religious subjects, is a weak spot.

I don't believe there's any surveillance because even with these education inspectors in the Presevo municipality, like in politics, they're changing too often and there's no adequate supervision for teaching this subject”, says Xhemaledin Salihu.

RTK has also contacted the education inspector in Presevo, Cameron Sadriun. Since he had just taken office, Sadriu has refused to plead on the matter.

And in the absence of control, writer Bilal Maliqi says that students are explained things related to death, grave night, and similar stories that arouse fear in students.

I've heard for instance that when they explained that after death a great snake would be wrapped up. It creates fear in students. Even calm sleep does not take place at home and goes to trauma”, Maliqi says.

He also says that it is creating confusion in students about national figures. The “is being told that Skenderbe is not Muslim and should not be treated as Albanian. Then Mother Teresa, who knows the world as a human mother. And what I've noticed, prayer is practiced in class. That's not reasonable for me because the practical part can be practiced in the mosque”, Maliqi said.

In Gjimnazin “Skenderbeu” in Presevo, besides teaching Islamic faith, Serbian students also teach that Orthodox. In classrooms where Serbs and Roma teach that in Presevo are minority communities, even for a student the selection of course is possible. This is confirmed by Nadersa Sadiku, director of the Gjimnazi “Skenderbeu” in Presevo. He said that in the first year parallel in high school, they've managed to keep a classroom with only two students. One of them belongs to the Roma community until the other Serb community. Serbia's “University goes in Orthodox religious education, while the Roma student at civic education” has said Sadiku. The investigative show on the Road to RTK has put forward the request to receive promotion from Serbia's Ministry of Education concerning the process of monitoring religious teaching in the Presevo Valley. But, in this institution, they have not preferred to respond to RTK's request.
