Kosovo's Specialised Chambers are focused on fulfilling the mandate in line with the Law adopted. Specialised rooms cannot know who they are and what citizenship individuals have against whom the Specialised Prosecutor's Office will file charges. This is the competence only of the Special Prosecutor's Office”, the Special Court Information Office says in response.
According to this office, the current Law for the Special Court is not said to be tried only by Albanians.
“generally, the Law does not mention concrete ethnic affiliations, but the Law states that specialised rooms have jurisdiction “over persons of Kosovo citizenship/ IRJ, or the persons who committed crimes under their jurisdiction hurt against persons with Kosovo citizenship/ IRJ wherever those crimes were committed”
As for the lawyers' registration, the Special Chamber Information Office said a number of requests for accreditation have already been submitted.
Meanwhile, as for the establishment of charges, this office said specialised rooms are functional in a judicial sense.
The Specialised Rooms have been functional in the judiciary since July 5th. It is now fully up to the Specialised Prosecutor's Office to file charges”.
The JCK War Veterans' Organisation has initiated the signing of a petition through which the Special Court Law will be amended so that crimes committed by Serbs can be tried. / RTV D
