“Albania is on the verge of opening negotiations, and a performance like this day is a point behind”, Prime Minister Edi Rama has said at a press conference from the prime minister's headquarters shortly after the oath of interim Prosecutor General Arta Marki.
“The election of the Attorney General, the Prosecutor General with the interim mandate with only our votes, was a completely legitimate, constitutional choice, but it was not the desired choice by us, or by me personally. We wanted a understanding choice through dialogue with the opposition, because it was not simply important for us to respect the Constitution and the law and to fulfil this obligation of the reform process in justice, but it was important that we meet this obligation together. But the opposition chose the desperate path of mud and smoke, having managed to accuse the US ambassador himself of conflict of interest in the issue, as with a bull charged with corruption by the former general prosecutor”, Rama said.
“We are at an important moment for Albania, we expect the opening of negotiations for membership, and just like any demonstration of unity in the function of the Constitution, law and reform in justice is a gained point, as well as any performance like this one today is a lost point”, the prime minister came in.
