Macedonia's Assembly has elected Lubomir Joveski the new chief prosecutor. His election has passed by a tight vote, as the three-hour majority has failed to secure the needed 61 votes, even as they have voted for the government's proposal.
The VMRO-led opposition has not participated in the session, while neither the deputies of the Belgrade Movement, the Albanian opposition party, have attended.
The new chief prosecutor, Joveski, says he will commit to restoring the dignity of the judiciary in the country, or establishing professionalism and removing political influences. The republican Public Prosecution Institute has a major role, as in appointing prosecutors in all the country's fundamental courts, but also decides on important cases in prosecuting and prosecuting various criminal subjects.
The prosecutor's election without the presence of the opposition, by the parliamentary majority, has not been commented, but in advance, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said VMRO- The DPMNE should be part of the reforms, since only in this way can the country move on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration.
Zaev in particular said he expects opposition support when day-to-day laws require two-thirds of the vote will be in order.
“The Assembly has many serious issues to decide, a significant part concerns the reform process. Besides the Public Prosecutor, we have many other jobs, between mid-January and February in the procedure, there will be laws requiring support of two-thirds, both for the judiciary, for internal affairs, the Law for the Media, changes to the law on public administration. I am convinced that the opposition should be an integral part of all what is called the reform process, but also the best perspective for Macedonia. Where we're going to deal with it, I expect their support, and where we're not going to have a deal, I expect them to be opposing and critical, but all this is constructively”, Zaev said.
The new prosecutor's Democratic Union for Integration expects to deal seriously with the processes estimated to be mounted and dealing with Albanians.
We're looking forward to Joveski to courageously address all the extremely sensitive cases for our society, politicised and contested in public in particular for Albanian public opinion, such as the cases, such as the case, ésopoti), the citizens' protests in the case of "Monstra" -- the Trimave Peace, the protests on the case of Gjorce Petrovê, and many other cases that are contested on the part of citizens, and have no faith in the completion of their own constitutional procedures, the DUI MP, Gru.
Lubomir Joveski at the post of Public Prosecutor of the Republic comes to the site of Marko Zvelevski, who was dismissed from office on 17 August months after numerous criticisms of his work and ties with past power. Phone conversations from the circle of wiretapping had also been published for Zvelevski on how he developed or influenced various judicial processes.
Because of distrust in the Republican Prosecution, a Special Prosecutor was established, who has so far led all the subjects related to the wiretap. /rel/
