Minister of Education, Science and Technology Shyqiri Bytyci, under the New Year's Eve, visited the downtown SOS village in Pristina today, with whom he distributed modest presents for children at this centre.
In the SOS villages, children of various ages who have been abandoned, neglected parents, special needs, or children of social assistance are found to be well cared for and cared for.
In this case, Minister Bytyqi said he has wanted to share with these children the joy of the New Year, with some modest presents, to remind these children that they have support from the ministry.
Bytyci: These kids need education above all.
This institution and these children need much greater institutional support. I consider that now we have to move from the voluntary and desirable part to the mandatory part and we are willing to discuss together with this institution to find opportunities to work and support the institution. These children need support, they need warm environments, but above all they need an education, so that they can finally be those kids to live like everyone else equally”, he said.
And as SOS Village Director Nezhat Salihu thanked the minister and invited him to join this large family.
We hope that they will come more often, not just for parties when we have them, but for all year long because these kids are here and live here. We live with donations and we also need institutional support a little bigger. It is true that we have at times had support, but I think it has been more than a temporary “Infusion”, but we simply need a sustained and continuous support “, she said.
In SOS villages there are a total of 76 local children, aged 0 to 20, even 25, who follow lessons in Kosovo educational institutions and enjoy the support of the SOS village until their financial independence.
