“France appeals to a national, constructive dialogue that should start in Iraq”, the French president said after meeting with Nechervan Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qoubad Talabani.
Barzan responded, ensuring that Kurdish authorities were ready to start talks on resolving all problems with Baghdad.
The crisis still follows between Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, and the Iraqi government two months after the referendum on independence organised by Kurdish authorities, a strongly rejected initiative by Baghdad.
From this situation, Macron, who hosted Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abad on October 29th, seeks to establish dialogue by taking advantage of the good relations Paris maintains with different parties”, according to the presidency.
