Within a year and a half, more than 50 cases of sexual harassment have been recorded, said today at a conference on this topic, organised by the Kosovar Centre for Gender Studies.
Berisha's life from Girls Codding Kosova, an organisation that has created the mobile app “Go on, Sleare” to collect reports of sexual harassment said this phenomenon is taking on disturbing proportions.
“From cases of sexual harassment at work are 52 reports, with 25 reportedly being harassed by employers, 15 cases are from colleagues while 12 cases come from clients”, Berisha said.
According to her, for a year and a half, 415 reports of sexual harassment were recorded on this app, of which 279 were women, 78 men and 58 were persons who did not specify their gender.
Berisha added that he will soon proceed with a project co-operation with police in order to have effective solutions to cases of sexual harassment.
While Gresa Nundman from the Kosovo Women's Group Network said 60% of women and girls in Kosovo, and 30% of men and boys have experienced sexual harassment during their lifetime.
The discussion also highlighted the victim's guilty phenomenon. Gresa Candjmani said about 70% of Kosovars believe that <x0-victs deserve sexual harassment, since they dressed provocatively”. That fact, according to her, is very disturbing because it happens even at the institutional level.
The one that's missing victims most is for other people to trust”
The stranger also talked about the reporting chain mostly recommended the Ombudsman's institution, on civil society organisations' networks such as the women's network, but also civil or criminal courts in cases where it is appropriate.
But she added that there must be reports in other institutions as well in order to understand the size of this problem.
