Kosovo teams launch rescue operations in Albania

Rescue teams and experts for assessing the situation of the Republic of Kosovo Emergency Management Agency, which started this morning with the approval of Interior Minister Falmur Sefaj, have arrived in the town of Fieri of the Republic of Albania, where rescue operations have begun. Rescue teams are hosted by Albania's Civil Emergency Director Shemsy Prenqi and jointly will act on rescue interventions in the most affected countries in the Fieri region.
A part of the team, which is prepared according to European standards from the “project The IPA Flood” and, under this programme, is operating with the Albanian counterpart team, while the rest of the team is conducting operations in the village of Novoselle of Fieri.
The city of Fier is one of the most endangered areas after floods, the biggest problems so far have caused it to exit the riverbed “Vyosa”.
This is the second intervention of the Kosovo Emergency Management Agency in the region, following the assistance they have given Macedonia.
