Kosovo microfinance sector increases by 24.5 per cent

The Kosovo Central Bank has announced that the microfinance sector was characterised by accelerated growth in activity, where the value of sector assets reached 169.2m euros in June 2017, corresponding to annual growth of 24.5 per cent. Also, the performance of this sector improved compared to the last three years, as a result of the significant profit increase reflected in improved productivity indicators.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo has continued work on operationalisation of the Macroprudial Supervision Policy, which was compiled in 2016 in the function of maintaining financial stability.
“In the first half of 2017, the overall developments of Kosovo's macroprudent indicators were stable, without any threat to the country's financial stability”, the BEC's financial stability report said.
