Within decades of supposed life, Hebrew and Roman historians are mentioned as well as dozens of Christian writings. Compare this to, for example, King Arthur, who apparently lived about 500 years.

What do the Christian writings tell us?

The value of this evidence is that it is early and detailed. The first Christian writings to speak of Jesus are the letters of St. Paul, and scholars agree that the earliest letters of these letters are written within 25 years of Jesus ' death, while Jesus ' detailed biographical records in the Gospels of the New Testament date back about 40 years after his death.

All of these appeared within the lives of numerous witnesses, and offer descriptions related to the culture and geography of first century Palestine, reports the Guardian”, the Periscope broadcast.

It is also hard to imagine why Christian writers would invent such a rescue figure at a time and place under the rule of the Roman Empire, where there was strong suspicion of Judaism.

What did the non-Christian authors say about Jesus?

As long as we know, the first non - Christian author to mention Jesus is Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, who wrote a history of Judaism about 93. He has two references to Jesus, reports “The Guardian”, broadcast Periscope. One of them is controversial because it's supposed to be corrupt by Christian scribes, but the other isn't suspicious of a reference for James, brother of “Jesus”.

About 20 years after Josephus, we have Roman politicians Pliny and Tacitus, who held some of the highest positions of the state in the early second century AD.

From Tacitus, we learn that Jesus was executed while Pontius Pilate was the Roman Prefect in charge of Judas (26-36), and Tiberius was emperor (14-37) reports adapting to the Gospel time frame.

Pliny contributes with information that while he was governor in northern Turkey, Christians worshiped Christ as a god. None of them liked the Christians -- Pliny writes about their “hardness”, and Tacitus calls their religion a devastating superstition.

Did the ancient writers write about Jesus ' existence?

Surprisingly, there was never any debate in the ancient world about whether Jesus of Nazareth was a historical figure. In the earliest literature of the Jewish rabbi, Jesus was denounced as Mary's unlawful child and a witch.

How controversial is Jesus ' existence now?

In one recent book, French philosopher Michel Onfray speaks of Jesus as a mere hypothesis, his existence as an idea of how a historical figure.

About 10 years ago, the Jesus Project was created in the U.S.; one of his main questions for discussion was whether Jesus existed or not. Some authors have even argued that Jesus of Nazareth was doubly open, claiming that Jesus and Nazareth are Christian inventions.

It is noteworthy, however, that the two leading historians who have written against these hyperpects are atheists: Maurice Casey and Bart Ehrman (North Carolina University). They have drawn sharp criticism of the “approach Jesus-mit”, calling him a counterfeiter. However, a recent study revealed that 40% of adults in England did not believe that Jesus was a real historical figure.

Is there any archaeological evidence for Jesus?

Part of the popular confusion about Jesus ' history may be caused by specific archaeological arguments raised about him. Recently, there were claims that Jesus was a great grandson of Cleopatra, complete with ancient coins, which reportedly showed Jesus in the crown of thorns.

These abundant historical references leave us with little doubt as to how Jesus lived and died. The most interesting question that goes beyond history and objective fact is whether Jesus died and returned to live.. /Periscopi/
