“We continue to show solidarity with Greece on issues of managing the immigration situation on islands and on continental soil”, European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramoopoulos said.
Today's “Fondi will contribute to improving conditions at host centres in Greece”, he stressed after announcing the release of this monetary assistance.
Greece is one of the main gateways to Europe of the refugee wave coming from areas mainly affected by conflicts in Asia and Africa.
