The decision was announced after signing a co-operation agreement in the area of air security between Moscow and Cairo.
“The signing of this agreement is the first step towards restarting flights between our countries”, Russian Transport Minister Maxime Sokolov stressed today in a communique.
The “Direct flights between Moscow and Cairo will resume starting on February 1st”, Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Cherif Fathy, quoted by Russian news agencies, stressed.
Relations between Russia and Egypt deteriorated since October 2015, following the attack on Egyptian territory against a Russian company's Airbous, who caused at least 224 deaths and was taken over by the Islamic State Group.
