US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delawi has attended the certificate sharing ceremony for participants in the “training programme. TechCamp Kosova: Fighting Corruption in the Balkans”.
In the cash speech held by some 60 participants from Kosovo, states of the region, Delawi has stressed that any ambition of Kosovo citizens depends on fighting corruption, including visa liberalisation, EO reports.
The American Embassy in Kosovo has organised a two-day training programme called “Technological Camp in Kosovo: Fighting corruption in Balkan countries”, in partnership with the Free Libre Open Source Software Kosova (FLOSSK) as local implementer.
The programme's theme was the development and exploitation of free and open information technologies to increase transparency and fighting corruption. Small grants for supporting and realising better ideas will also be shared.
Delawie recalled that the US Embassy has supported and a host of other activities organised under “the anti-corruption week” and showed why they did so. “Fighting corruption and rule of law are top priorities for Kosovo. It all depends on this: economic development, education, visa liberalisation. Any ambition of Kosovo citizens depends on fighting corruption”, Delawi said.
He said innovative solutions and commitment are needed from all over society, as well as Government, to address this big problem.
“Technology has great potential in this war, it can increase transparency, connect the public to information, break up barriers between Government and citizens, and reduce the possibilities for corruption”, Delawi stressed.
For the training participants, who were representatives of civil society, journalists, the public sector focused on fighting corruption and so on, certificates have been shared.
