According to the Institute, when the floods from the creeks and rivers where their beds have been warped are added, they then swell and penetrate the inhabited environment.
In settlements, sewer networks are narrowed with waste and store fecal matter on the surface. Based on the results of water monitoring for drink, laboratory data for bacterological and chemical parameters results within pre-standard standards with water quality drinking regulations, the UA 16/2012. Given the situation created after floods in several regions of Kosovo, particularly the central part of Pristina, Mitrovica, Prizren, Dragash, the National Public Health Institute, gives these recommendations: The provision of hygienic water for drink is offered from the tank of municipal water companies until the normalization of the situation in all flooded villages, supply of ambalized water for drink and food preparation, well water in the settlements has been contaminated by garbage and fecal matter so that it cannot be used as such for drink and must be spent in 100o C at least 10 minutes, public water company/water pipelines/to reinforce control and regularly disinfect water, the pipeline supply citizens with hygienic water for normal-time drinks, to prevent contagion and prevention of hydrical epidemics, regional water pipeline teams will unblock the sewers not to channel the neighbourhoods flooded with fecal matter, in all communities flooded”, the Kosovo National Public Health Institute reportedly.
The institute says the epidemiological situation is in constant control by the National Institute's caretaker teams, and any change in the situation on the ground will follow through with new recommendations.
