Basha: Wrong, pro-US vote on Jerusalem we owed for Kosovo

“Voted against The US, the government has acted against Albanian national interest. The interest of Albania and the Albanian nation, to date, has been served in their advancement by a strategic ally and they are the United States of America”, so stated Democrat leader Lulzim Basha, who has held the post of foreign minister years ago.
By arguing his pro-US stance, Basha stated in opinion last night that “the US today would be neither free nor independent. That's my conviction. Without the US, Albania would not be a NATO member”.
Furthermore, he clarified that Albania really voted the same as the EU countries, but the European Union did not condition its foreign policy. ” In my knowledge, we have countries of the European Union that have voted alongside the United States of America, there was no reason for Albania to change its attitude and not continue to base its foreign policy on its major Middle East issues, the American stance. Not to carry the flag of how the Jerusalem issue should be resolved or not, or the Palestinian-Israel conflict, but to protect the national interest of the Republic of Albania and the national interest of the Albanian nation”, Basha said in the studio of “Opion” in Tv Klan.
The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution Thursday calling on the United States of America to withdraw from its decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The non-binding resolution was adopted by 128 states, 9 voted against and 35 countries abstained. Amid countries that voted against The US and for the UN resolution is also Albania.
Basha said that for the “Middle East issues Albania has consolidated in 27 years a position always listed with the American stance. This is where I've left him as foreign minister and I've been here until today. Today for the first time, Albania has changed its stance, unlike Mr. Bush. For the first time, Albania has changed its stance and is listed with the stance of most European Union countries. My personal attitude is that this is a wrong attitude. The reason I say this is neither partisan nor passionate nor has anything to do with the point of the matter. Because the point of the matter is too big to be judged by any Albanian-speaking person. ”
