Reuters, CNN and other news organisations reported yesterday that Trump, however, would like to postpone his promise from the election campaign to move the US Embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Officials said Trump would likely continue the policy of former US presidents signing the monthly withdrawal document from the 1995 law, which called for the United States Embassy to be moved by Tel Aviv.
Jerusalem's status is one of the most problematic issues of long-term conflict between Palestinians and Israelites.
The Palestinians view eastern Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.
Israel has annexed this part and declared it its capital, but this move has never been accepted by the international community.
Most states have embassies in Tel Aviv.
Asked about these reports, a spokesman for the White House's National Security Council said that “we have nothing to declare”.
A spokesman for Pelstinez Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, has warned of the potential negative effects of such a movement.
The American name of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel destroys the peace process”, said spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina. /rel/
