Albania Votes Against US on Jerusalem issue at UN

The UN General Assembly resolution has been adopted against US President Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Among the 128 member states that have voted for the resolution was Albania. Meanwhile, 35 states have abstained and nine other countries have come up against the resolution according to the text [...]
According to the text of the resolution, any decision on the status of Jerusalem is invalid and should be withdrawn.
Shortly after that decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted by a statement explaining Albania's position in this vote.
Our “Vota today at the UN General Assembly reflects our unchanged position on this issue. Albania has adhered to the international consensus on Jerusalem, based on a significant number of UN documents, including a number of Security Council resolutions, and has joined the common position of the overwhelming majority of EU member states, maintaining its consistent stance with the European Union”It says the MPJ statement.
Earlier, Trump and US ambassador to the UN threatened that financial assistance would cease for countries voting in favour of this resolution. Albania is also among these countries. At the moment, however, it is somewhat early to learn what the real consequences of this position of Albania will be against Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Albania thus chose to take a similar stand with the European Union. Israel, in turn, named the UN the home of lies and said this vote would end up in the trash can of history.
