Today, agreement is signed for construction of the “New Kosovo”

The Ministry of Economic Development (MZHE) organises today the signing ceremony of the Commercial Agreements for the construction of New Kosovo's “thermal power plant, among the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and Contour Global.
With this agreement in Kosovo, over 1 billion euros will be invested, which represents the biggest investment in Kosovo's new history.
After the finalisation, this project will ensure energy independence for the state and the people of Kosovo.
The thermal plant will be built with a single supercrytic bloc, with minimal efficiency 40% and gross electricity capacity of 500MW.
With the cogeneration component for central heating, there will be far greater capacities for expanding the heating network for the town of Pristina, Obilic, Drensas and Fushe Kosovo.
The new thermal power plant will begin to be built in 2018 and will have been operational since 2017, will be built with the latest word of technology and will thus reflect on lower emissions, respectively, on conservation.
Construction of Thermocentral Plant “New Kosovo” is a historic event for the people of Kosovo because energy is the inevitable condition for the economic, political and social prosperity future.
Present at this ceremony will be Hashim Thaci, president of the Republic of Kosovo; Ramush Haradinaj, prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo; GREGORY T. Delavie é ambassador of the United States of America; Valdrin Luka, Minister of Economic Development, Leader of the Project Steering Committee; Joseph Brandt CEO Countur Global and other diplomatic representatives and international institutions and other local institutions representatives.
