Pensioners across the country will benefit rewards for the holiday season.
Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj, yesterday in the presentation of the 2017 Standard Budget Act on the Economy Commission, said the reward fund will be $18m. Within this month, the government will close 100 per cent even the damages of the 8th tranche for being persecuted who are alive. Minister Ahmetaj said the fund for this category will be $325m.
The 2017 budget changes were approved by the Economy Commission. The opposition voted against, as, according to the commission's deputy chairman, Jorida Tabaku, the Normative Act brings nothing new to the economy, business and employment, and changes are for propaganda.
THE government will spend $18m on retirement rewards. Government sources for the paper confirmed that pensioners will receive $3,000 in return. The special decision on the rewards will be approved at the next cabinet meeting, where families with economic assistance are expected to be the beneficiaries.
The “amounts to 1.8 billion leks of contributions from social and health insurance, as a result of high performance in their meeting during January-September 2017. This increase goes completely towards the pensioners' bonus with a neutral effect on deficit”, the finance minister explained.
Within December, the government will also close the damages of the 8th tranche for the primary category of former persecutors. Finance Minister Ahmetaj explained that the 352m-dollar fund pays 100 per cent in the top category.
“With the Normative Act we take over to pay off the last 8th tranche, for the beneficiary categories of former surviving persecutors, to cancel it by December 31, 2017. And in the next year, we will begin to think structuredly about what we will do with the beneficiaries”, Ahmetaj said.

Finance Minister Ahmetaj said yesterday that the government is in the phase of the investigation of the consequences from the floods and there is still no damage bill.
We don't have a damage assessment yet. The assessment is phase four, we're in phase three, so liquidating the consequences. Very soon the assessment will begin, which will be careful”, the minister said. For the 2015 floods, Minister Ahmetaj explained that the bill and compensation of about 5m euros has been paid by the European Commission's grant.
An additional 127m-euro fund for State Lawyers sparked debate between the opposition and the majority. The opposition raised the 2 billion-euro bill on affairs in Arbitrazh once again as a concern, referring to former Minister Petrit Vasili's letter. Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj rejected Arbitrazhi's bill, naming the figure false.
If you refer to the virtuality of 2 billion, this figure is by no means true. That figure is just for panic”, Ahmetaj said. DP MP Jorida Tabaku called for explanations for relaunching funds and duties for Arbitrazhin and the Strasbourg Court. Minister Ahmetaj explained that these funds will be used for presentations of issues the state counsel advocates in Arbitrazh. /Panorama
