Although one piece was sold earlier, over 80 million tonnes of industrial waste from “Treps”, which make up metal, lead, black, silver and other rare metals accumulated during the 80 years of economic giant work, will be treated after formalising the Law for “Trepca”.
The treatment of industrial waste “Trepca” will benefit millions of euros.
Among the problems facing “Trepca” are undoubtedly industrial waste from the processing of xehes with flotilla and metallurgy, which have greatly damaged the environment in Mitrovica and in addition endangered the health of Mitrovica residents.
Currently, there are 60 million tons of industrial waste, which are mainly situated on rivers.
Industrial waste untreated for nearly 80 years of the work of Kosovo economic giant “Trepca” remains a permanent threat to the health of the citizens of Mitrovica, writes “Zeri”.
Risked are not only residents of southern Mitrovica, but also northern ones. The problem is already known with members of the Roma community, who have lived for years after the war in camps in northern Mitrovica, where lead has been found in blood.
With these citizens of the Roma community, who have already returned to their rebuilt homes at “Roma sector” south of Mitrovica, the United Nations Organisation (OKB), which has managed with Mitrovica through UNMIK, is still under way.
