Prosecutors in Turkey have submitted warrants for 360 people, in an operation targeted by alleged supporters within the military, to Turkish headquarters in the United States, Fetullah Gulen, has today reported state news agency Anadolu.
The report notes that 333 of these people, facing arrest, in the Istanbul operation are soldiers, while 216 of them are service personnel.
Turkey's president's government, Recep Tayip Erdogan, claims Gulen and his network have orchestrated the coup effort last year. Gulen has dismissed this charge, reports the REL.
Istanbul police officers are continuing the arrest operation, Anadolu reports.
The private news agency, Dogan, has reported that 7 of those wanted are pilots.
More than 50,000 people have been arrested pending court proceedings due to ties with Gulen, while another 150,000 have been dismissed or suspended from work in the public or private sector by the failed stamp of July 15th last year, in which more than 250 people have been killed.
Last week, nearly 700 people have been arrested in connection with these investigations.
Turkey's Western allies and human rights groups have voiced concern that Ankara is exploiting investigations of the crackdown on those who think otherwise.
