Putin referred to life exclusion from sports for four Russian skiers from Olympic officials. According to the Russian president, the American action was a response to the imagined Russian intervention in American elections.
It seems Putin has been upset by the US charges and has already decided to respond to the same. Putin suggested that the doping scandal affects the South Korea Winter Olympics next February just one month before the March elections in Russia and the goal is to create discontent in sports.
“In response to our imaginary intervention in their elections, the US wants to create problems in our” elections, Putin said.
Russian disfellowshipped athletes were part of last December's MClaren report claiming that in Russia, the doping programme from 2011 to 2015 was sponsored by the state -- a charge Kremlin strongly denies.
