The Kremlin has announced that Putin and Erdogan will discuss regional and international issues, including “the joint fight against terrorism” and efforts to end the six-year war in Syria.
They are also expected to discuss increased bilateral trade and energy co-operation.
Russia has militarily supported Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in their fight, while Turkey supports rebels who oppose Assad.
Reports between Russia and Turkey were tense after a Turkish military plane attacked a Russian plane on the Syrian border in November 2015.
