The recent controversy combined with charges and counterpayers allegedly hit a mission, whose annual budget is 50m euros with 800 employees.
A former judge who resigned from the Mission because of corruption is under investigation for corruption, abuse and fraud, according to the Brussels-based European newspaper.
British Judge Simons in an interview with the French newspaper “Mond” said he resigned because of the “crimes of corruption within the <x2x3>, saying EULEX is a “political commission”, reports “92”, Periscopi broadcast.
I've been reporting several corruption cases within the mission in recent weeks, in particular, asking why the second judge of EULEX has hacked my email, asked the British and EU Foreign Service to pass the case to the police, but they refused to help me”, Simon said.
On the other hand, EULEX's mission announced Thursday that Simons had been subject to several independent investigations during the past year, in which serious allegations were made against him, as well as an investigation into claims he had made.
“These investigations were conducted by a team founded in Brussels and led by a former judge of the European Court of Justice quoted in various phases of the investigation, some of which were sent to the disciplinary board and are currently pending on their decision”, an E statement announced. ULEX.
EU High Representative Maja Kocijančić, on the case of Simon's charges, said the European Union does not tolerate the inappropriate “behaviour”. “EULEX applies the zero tolerance principle for improper behaviour, and this applies to all members of the Mission, regardless of their” position, Kocincic said.
