European Union Election Observation Mission chief Alojz Peterle at a media conference said these elections had a strong competition.
According to him, there have been tensions in the municipality of Gjakova and Mitrovica, which EU observers have noted.
For that, he said it belongs to the CEC to see what the procedures should be followed.
We noticed rising tensions in several municipalities where contestants accused each other of pressure. The atmosphere in Partesh and Kllokot has been polarised but without any major incident”, he said, broadcast kp.
Peterle said some important aspects of the voting process and counting should be addressed in order to further address the process on Election Day.
The choice day was good and no problem. Our observers have observed 292 locations throughout Kosovo. Observers saw good transparency. The vote was effectively realised. The facilities for disabled persons were difficult, with half of them making money for this were functional”, he added.
The recount process took place in the presence of representatives of political subjects and was monitored by our observers. The electoral panel for Ances and Parashtres rejected some of the complaints that were made regularly. The percentage of invalid balloting remains large. 30 percent of all ballot papers have had to be recounted. 10 percent of the analysed forms represent voting inconsistencies. Even though the QNR had counted 718, P ZAP has received 505 complaints after publishing the results. 5 races are in narrow margins, where the bail and diaspora vote count could determine the results in these” municipalities, he said.
After the last elections, Peterle stressed that the time has come for action. He stressed that it would not be good for Kosovo to go to new elections, as he said he heard that Kosovo could go to the polls again.
“Some of the problems are some weaknesses that have been observed even in past elections. We must clearly stress that our assessments will make sense only if our recommendations are taken into account and implemented. I hope that soon I will not be invited to observe elections in Kosovo. I think after these elections is the time for action”, Peterle said.
