Adam Osmeyev and Amina Okuyeva were shot by a bush near a railway crossing in the capital's suburbs, a Ukrainian interior ministry official said on Monday, a Ukrainian interior ministry official, reports “Deutsche Oil”, Periscopi broadcast.
“As a result of the injuries she suffered, Amina died”, Anton Gerashchenko, an interior ministry adviser, wrote on Facebook. “Adam Osmayev was injured, but will live. I just contacted him on the phone. ”
Interior Ministry spokesman Jaroslav Trakalo later confirmed Okuyeva's death.
Osmayev, a volunteer army soldier, had long been wanted by Moscow in connection with a plot to kill President Vladimir Putin in 2012.
It was held for two and a half years in a Ukrainian prison, but despite the demands of Russian prosecutors, he was never extradited to Russia.
Osmayev and his Ukrainian wife are known in Ukraine, where they fought together with government forces fighting against pro-Russian rebels in the east of the country.
Ukrainian police say Moscow's involvement is one of the possible motives they are seeing. Russia has denied any role in the attack.
