Although Lake Batlava supplies much of Podujevo and Pristina's region with water, residents of the village of Orlan and several surrounding villages have no drinking water.
That's because they're not even involved in the water supply system.
Continued protests, nor petitioning with the signing of almost all residents, have influenced these villages to connect to the water supply network.
Residents demand that the water connection take place at the Shajkovca water plant, which is only 13 kilometers away.
They say that if there is no solution, the evacuation of residents from this section will increase, as ten families have been evacuated within just one year because of lack of water.
Residents have dug wells, but they say that the water is not drinking, and many times since they have had no choice, they have been forced to use it for drink.
They complain that their children are often ill, and tests have shown that water was the cause, which, they say, contains different minerals.
E, non-governmental organisation “The rule of Democracy in Kosovo”, says that 40 thousand euros, which the municipality has allocated, are very little after the project costs 1m and 300 thousand euros.
The organisation calls on the Government, as well as the Parliament, to find funds to support this project.
In the Regional waterwork “Pristina”, they say their task was to draft the project, which was handed over to the municipality.
