Former prisoners in Bosnia and Herzegovina -- about 50 likes -- as well as representatives of the “Srebrenica and Zepa” Association have gone to The Hague on Wednesday, where they will take part in declaring the sentence on Ratko Mladic, former commander of Bosnian Serb forces.
Mladic faces 11 counts, including those of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity during the war in Bosnia.
Prisoning League Chairman Jasmin Meskovic told the Balkan Service Free Europe that he hopes The Hague Tribunal has found evidence of Mladic's direct responsibility in planning and executing the genocide in Srebrenica and other war crimes.
In July 1995, Mladic's troops entered the town of Srebrenica, which had been declared a safe United Nations area, and killed over 8,000 Muslim men and boys.
“We expect and want Ratko Mladic to be able to hear the full declaration of the trial and evidence on all charges. They are responsible for the genocide in Srebrenica and the responsibility for genocide in six other municipalities in Bosnia, then terrorising the citizens of Sarajevo, holding international forces hostage and other crimes against humanity”, Meskovic said.
“We expect to be tried on all charges and receive the most severe possible sentence of”, he added.
Brothers Sabadud and Hajrudin Shehup, who have stayed at the Vogosqa camp for 150 days, also traveled to The Hague. Sabadudini said he would never forget “torture days”.
“I want to participate in declaring the most serious act on Ratko Mladic”, he said.
