Party leaders Union Christian-Demoqueate (SPD), of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, say they have agreed to engage in the big coalition with the left-wing Social-Demoqueate Party (SPD) in an effort to end the political crisis in this country.
Daniel Gwenther, regional CDU leader, told reporters last night that “we intend to have an effective” government.
These comments were made after a four-hour meeting of the CDU leaders in Berlin, while lawmakers are considering ways to move forward, as the effort to form the coalition with the Red and Free Democrats has failed last week.
Failure in these talks has questioned the fourth possible consecutive mandate of Mrs. Merkel for German Chancellors.
SPD leader Martin Schulz earlier said his party would not enter the big coalition for the third time with the CDU, as allied SPD parties failed to achieve satisfactory results in the September 24th elections.
According to a newer opinion research, 52% of Germans support forming the grand coalition. (REL)
