The third Sunday of November marks the World Day for the Memorial of Victims in Road Traffic, and this third year Kosovo has joined various countries in the world, marking World Day for the Memorial of Victims in Road Traffic.
While other years in Kosovo, activities have been co-ordinated by the College of Applied Technical Sciences “The Temple” and today afternoon at the National Theatre in Pristina for this day, candles have been lit in honour of victims who have lost their lives in traffic accidents.
Genta Xhedeeni, the co-ordinator of activities, has invited relevant institutions that deal with road safety issues in the future, starting tomorrow to prioritize the issue of not having so many fatal accidents as they did this year.
This worldwide activity is marked on the third Sunday of November and of course that the activity, which was Saturday, was the blood donation from citizens, staff and college students “Tempul”, where we have provided a large measure of blood doses that will be distributed for help to injured persons in traffic accidents. Today, though in difficult weather conditions, we have symbolically lit candles for 113 lives, which have lost their lives this year in traffic accidents. Of course, these activities, such as the past years, have been held by the Temple College and MARKS in collaboration with Kosovo Forum for road security partners”, Xhedin stressed.
Attending this event was citizen Elmi Falziu, who said that such activities for the sensationalization of citizens for their stay on the street have supported them since 2007, when he himself had an accident.
He called accident statistics in Kosovo alarming and appealed citizens and institutions to increase care, respectively, for road safety measures.
This initiative is quite shot and had made an appeal for all participants in communications, in particular to relevant institutions dealing with road safety, especially winter, to increase security measures”, he said.
