Kosovo's Assembly approves BQK's report

The Kosovo Assembly has approved the Central Bank report for 2016. For voting 67 deputies, 10 against and one abstention.

Before the vote, MPs have discussed giving their assessments about the report. In this case LDK deputy Lumir Abdixhiku, who is also chairman of the Commission for Buxhet and Finance, reports that according to the data presented in the report, Kosovo's economy was seen to be marked by increased economic activity against the previous year.

According to BQC estimates, the gross domestic growth rate was 3.4 per lQ in 2016.

Economic growth in 2016 was supported by increased domestic demand, as net exports negatively affected the growth rate. The loss of export value and the increase in import value resuscitation led to a reduction in imports' transparency rate to 11.1 percent. The value of remittances in 2016 has reached 691m euros, has an annual increase of 3.8 percent. The foreign investment category in 2016 was 219m euros, representing lower levels compared to the previous year of 308.8m euros”, Abdixhiku said.

PDK MP Safete Hadregjaj said that she did not pass BEC estimates, Kosovo's economy has scored growth of 4.1 per cent as a result of growth in consumption of 3 per cent and growth in investments by 9.1 per cent.

According to the report, loan activities of the banking sector have had an impact on financing private sector growth activity. Economic growth during 2016 was also a result of increased growth in agricultural, trade, and financial activity.

“In the Kosovo Assembly we have passed the law on mandatory responsibility security in 2011 with accelerated procedure to create the conditions for coming up to the green card. Still, opportunities were not created to secure green cardboard, and insurance companies continue to increase their benefits until our diaspora continues to be damaged further. It is more than necessary to increase the commitment to finding the solution to these two sensitive issues for Kosovo's citizens”, Hadergjinyna said.

MP Dardan Sejdiu from Vetevendosje said they give support to this report, as it accurately presents the sector that BQK regulates.

The BQC report accurately represents the sector that regulates it, but it also scatters the need for a more active approach with regard to orientation and credit giving to banks. The report presents in a precise and good manner the sectors that this bank regulates. We as a group will support this report”, Sejdiu stressed.

Finance Minister Bedri Hamza clarified that to be a member of the green card, Kosovo must be a member of the UN, the condition Kosovo has yet to meet.

I don't intend for the green card now as a minister to go out in the role I don't belong to, but for the green card, the Bureau of Security is responsible. To participate in the green card and being a member I know Switzerland has not been a member of the UN and has become a member, but it is another state, another case that differs from other states. Kosovo has not met this legal condition. We've been trying through Albania, but there's problems, trouble in relation to the European Green Card Bureau, and it hasn't been accepted. It has been attempted through Slovenia again, and yet this is not possible to reach”, Hamza said.

MP Faton Topalli said he strongly protested in the Assembly for robbing exiles with insurance polys, not part of the green card. As he does, even without being a member of the UN, Kosovo has been able to have its green card.

“Cases of insurance companies, policy implications, powerful families in the largest post-war crime, the silence of the competition Authority and the MTI Consumer Department and the conscious or unconscious incriminating of the CQ pages of how deep the root of crime is and how much our entire system is involved in it. Today, in the name of 800 thousand exiles, I protest before this Parliament for the treatment and plunder of exiles for security polys. I protest against all those institutions that are responsible for resolving this issue and have taken no step so far to resolve it. Don't lie to us or to the public opinion that we don't have the green card because we're not part of the UN. Switzerland has become a member of the UN in 2002, while the green card has been used by Switzerland” many decades ago, Topalli stressed.
